One of the women guarding the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, Christian Brueckner, had a brief reply when questioned about the convicted criminal.
Brueckner, aged 49, is currently residing in a makeshift camp in a woodland area in northern Germany, accompanied by two women who refer to themselves as his “helpers” and a pit bull terrier. He relocated to this secluded spot after facing backlash from locals for his release from prison.
Seeking to start anew outside of Germany, Brueckner attempted a bold fundraising campaign on GoFundMe, which was swiftly removed by the platform. There are concerns that authorities may struggle to monitor his movements if he leaves the country, as his ankle monitor may not be effective across borders.
Presently, Brueckner is under the supervision of two women known as Mandy and Monda, who are overseeing his campsite along with the aggressive dog. When asked about their presence, they simply stated: “We are his helpers.”
Evidence of beer cans, fairy lights in the trees, and a makeshift screen at his campsite was observed, along with a new bicycle on the premises.
Despite being advised by his lawyers to remain silent with the press, Brueckner, the main suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, continues to deny any involvement. He had previously served time for raping a 72-year-old woman in the same region.
Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters expressed concerns about monitoring Brueckner if he were to leave Germany, emphasizing the importance of ongoing investigation efforts. Wolters mentioned the existence of undisclosed information and potential key evidence or witnesses that could aid in resolving the case.
The suspect’s statements to witnesses, including claims made at a festival in Spain, have raised suspicions further. Despite these accounts, Brueckner persists in denying any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
