Convicted child abuser Jeffrey Epstein was found to have expressed support for far-right activist Tommy Robinson and exchanged disturbing Holocaust-themed comments in recently disclosed private emails by US lawmakers.
In one message, Epstein praised Robinson’s release from jail in 2018, addressing him as “good work.” Additionally, he made insensitive references to Kristallnacht and Auschwitz in connection to political events, including the 2018 mid-term elections.
The released documents revealed a previously unseen aspect of Epstein’s engagement with Right-wing movements in the US and Europe. The emails unveiled his extensive network of political contacts spanning from the American establishment to European diplomats and officials from various countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Among his contacts was Steve Bannon, the former chief strategist for Donald Trump, whom Epstein advised on conservative movements and strategic firings within the Trump administration. Epstein also discussed supporting far-Right parties in the European Parliament elections with Bannon, emphasizing the need for personal interaction and time investment.
Epstein portrayed himself as a global influencer with connections to influential figures worldwide, boasting of gifts from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and attempting to facilitate a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and himself.
As scrutiny on Epstein intensified in late 2018, he claimed to be a target in a political vendetta against Trump, insinuating that he held incriminating information on the president. Despite these claims, Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges, with authorities concluding his death as a suicide.
