Summer McIntosh clinched her first-ever gold medal at the Pan Pacific swimming event by outperforming Australia’s Jenna Forrester in the women’s 400-meter individual medley in Irvine, Calif. McIntosh set a championship record time of 4:28.01, leaving Forrester nearly three seconds behind to secure the silver medal. Agostina Hein from Argentina claimed the bronze with a time of 4:32.54.

McIntosh expressed her satisfaction with her performance, stating that she aimed for more but was content with securing the victory for Canada. She mentioned that she would review her race splits to identify areas for improvement in future competitions.

During the event, the Canadian national anthem resonated through the crowd, eliciting excitement from the attendees, especially the enthusiastic group of children in the stands. In the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay, McIntosh contributed significantly to Canada’s bronze medal finish.
