The Winnipeg Sea Bears and Brampton Honey Badgers emerged victorious in the Canadian Elite Basketball League conference finals, securing their spots in the championship series. Xavier Moon led the Sea Bears to a 107-96 victory over the Vancouver Bandits, while the Honey Badgers defeated the Niagara River Lions 91-81 to advance.

This will be the first time the league crowns a champion through a series format, departing from the usual single-game structure. The series will kick off with Game 1 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET, with Brampton hosting the initial match before heading to Winnipeg for Games 2 and potentially 3.

Moon’s stellar performance, scoring 24 points, propelled the Sea Bears to their first-ever final appearance, compensating for the absence of the injured Teddy Allen. Simon Hildebrandt also contributed significantly, scoring 24 points alongside Moon, with Isiah Osborne sealing the victory with a crucial three-pointer.

Both Moon and Hildebrandt showcased their three-point shooting skills, aiding Winnipeg in securing their second playoff win. Moon, 31, returned to the CEBL this season after a five-year hiatus. On the other side, Brampton’s Tyrese Hunter delivered a game-winning three-pointer, complemented by Sean East II’s 22-point performance.

The stage is set for an exciting championship series, with both teams eyeing the coveted title and a chance to join the elite few who have clinched two CEBL championships.
