Published on

Search and rescue authorities have located a plane in the Kawartha Lakes region where a pilot went missing following a flight last week. The Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) posted on the social media platform X that a plane was discovered on Wolf Lake in Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, situated approximately a 45-minute drive north of the Kawartha Lakes municipality. The JRCC stated that the case has been handed over to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a missing person’s investigation without confirming if the aircraft belonged to the 73-year-old missing pilot identified as David.

According to Durham police, David departed from Oshawa Airport in the plane at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and was scheduled to return by 9:30 a.m. He typically flies in the region south of Kawartha Lakes township and north of Lake Scugog. The Ontario Provincial Police previously described the plane as a small blue homemade aircraft bearing the marking “FOFZ” on its tail.

David, an experienced pilot standing at five feet seven inches tall with a slim physique, has black grey hair and a moustache. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the missing pilot and the discovered aircraft.
