A married woman facing charges for groping a teenager has revealed her shocking motivation for the assault on a man almost two decades younger than her at a luxurious hotel sauna.
The 38-year-old Irish woman, who was 37 at the time of the incident, confessed in court that she touched the 18-year-old’s private parts at the Martinique Hotel in Magaluf because she felt sexually aroused. She believed the young man was showing interest in her, leading her to mistakenly think there was mutual flirting before she made physical contact. The embarrassing situation left her feeling regretful as the teenager was visibly distressed.
The woman, unidentified in reports, could potentially receive a two-year prison sentence if convicted for the attack on the Swedish adolescent. Prosecutors are pushing for a one-and-a-half-year jail term along with compensation of £440 for the alleged trauma suffered by the victim. Additionally, they seek a two-year prohibition from working with minors post-release and coverage of court expenses upon conviction.
During her holiday with her husband, the Brazilian-born woman reportedly engaged in conversation with the Swedish male in the hotel sauna on the evening of June 3, according to reliable sources at the hotel. The accuser claimed she followed him into the Turkish steam bath where she proceeded to inappropriately touch him without consent, prompting him to leave and inform the hotel staff, leading to her removal and subsequent police involvement.
As per CrimeWorld, the woman admitted to feeling aroused and misunderstanding the situation, assuming reciprocal interest and flirting, immediately expressing remorse. Following her release on bail, she returned to Ireland.
Her attorney, Joan Arbos, known in Palma, had previously indicated his intention to request the case’s dismissal, arguing that no criminal offense had occurred. The Civil Guard spokesperson confirmed the allegations of unwanted sexual contact by the 37-year-old suspect towards the Swedish victim, leading to her arrest and judicial processing.
