Terror police in Madrid used a taser and fired shots at an 18-year-old assailant accused of stabbing three individuals during a frightening street assault.

The young suspect, who also allegedly attempted to assault law enforcement officers while reciting verses from the Quran, initiated the alarming incident in the Puente de Vallecas district on Saturday. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene and barricaded himself in a residential unit, prompting a police standoff.

Following the confrontation, the suspect was taken to Gregorio Maranon Hospital in the Spanish capital, where he was kept under police supervision. Witnesses reported that he had wielded a small two-inch knife during the altercation.

Reportedly, an elderly woman sustained neck injuries, while two men, one with severe chest wounds, were also harmed during the incident. The suspect’s brother informed the authorities that his sibling was armed and behaving aggressively inside their residence.

Law enforcement officials labeled the event as an “Islamist terrorist incident” and dispatched specialized units to secure the area. Upon gaining access to the flat, officers tasered the individual twice but resorted to firing four shots when he attempted to attack them. A statement praised the officers’ swift action in neutralizing the radicalized suspect.

The victims of the stabbing received medical treatment, with none of their injuries deemed life-threatening.
