Luke Littler shared that a remark from Ricardo Pietreczko motivated him to defeat the German 10-6 and secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Players Championship Finals.

At just 18 years old, Littler found himself trailing 3-1 against Pietreczko, the German No.2 player. Despite the challenging start, ‘The Nuke’ managed to turn the match around in a gritty battle, winning nine out of the next 12 legs with an impressive average score of over 100, advancing to the final eight in Minehead.

During a crucial moment when the score was tied at five each, Pietreczko’s comment fueled Littler’s determination to excel. Reflecting on the match, Littler revealed, “We returned at 5-5, and he mentioned, ‘I was only aiming for one leg, and now I have five.’ That motivated me to win the game and showcase my skills.”

The talented player, born in 2007, recently claimed the world No.1 title following his triumph at the Grand Slam tournament. With an impressive average score of 102.67 and six 180s in his latest performance, Littler once again demonstrated his prowess in power scoring.

Moreover, he recreated a contentious 121 finish from a previous encounter on the European Tour, executing it in his signature style: hitting bull, treble 7, and bull.

Assessing his overall display, Littler expressed, “Although I wasn’t pleased when I was behind, I managed to level the score at five-all and then pushed forward. I struggled a bit with my doubles tonight, but I aim to improve on them in the next session.”

Littler’s next challenge will be facing off against world No.9 Chris Dobey in the quarterfinals, with the possibility of meeting the victor of Gerwyn Price versus Daryl Gurney in the semifinals.

Nathan Aspinall and Josh Rock will compete in another quarterfinal match, while James Wade and Jermaine Wattimena will conclude the afternoon session at the Players Championship Finals.
