Millions of Gmail users are now receiving a significant update from Google. The tech giant has officially announced the rollout of a feature that allows users to change their email addresses, a welcome change for those who are not satisfied with their original Gmail account name.

Google stated, “Your digital identity has been enhanced.” Users can now modify their Google Account username, the part before @gmail.com, which is used to access various services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive.

One advantage of this update is that both the original and new email addresses will function simultaneously, ensuring that users do not miss any messages sent to either account. Google reassures users that their stored data, including photos, messages, and emails, will remain unaffected by this change.

While this update is beneficial, it is currently only available in the United States, leaving users in the UK waiting for its arrival. For users in the US, they are encouraged to navigate to their Google account settings, select personal info, then email, followed by Google account email to access the option to change their email address.

It is important to note that the original email address will be retained as an alternate on the account, and users are limited to creating a new address once every 12 months. Users are advised to monitor their settings to determine if the update has been applied to their accounts.
