In a thrilling match on Wednesday, the Dallas Wings secured a 94-88 victory over Toronto, marking the Tempo’s 10th consecutive loss in the league. Paige Bueckers, displaying a remarkable performance, scored all 22 of her points in the second half after facing a scoreless first half. Bueckers’ outstanding 13-point third quarter, going 4 of 4 from the field and the free-throw line, significantly contributed to the Wings breaking their three-game losing streak, which was their longest of the season.

Adding to the Wings’ success, Arike Ogunbowale delivered a stellar performance with 21 points, achieving season highs in free throws and attempts by going 13 of 14. Alanna Smith contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Awak Kuier added 14 points to the team’s winning effort.

Despite missing key players like All-Star Jessica Shepard and rookie Azzi Fudd, who were sidelined due to injuries, Dallas managed to maintain their lead throughout the game. Shepard suffered an ankle injury in the previous match against Minnesota, while Fudd was absent for the third consecutive game due to a knee injury.

Marina Mabrey of the Tempo showcased an impressive performance, scoring 14 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter and leading her team in a late-game comeback attempt after trailing by 18 points in the third quarter.

Bueckers showcased her all-around skills with eight assists and three steals, including a crucial steal that resulted in a breakaway layup, extending Dallas’ lead to 10 points with just over three minutes left on the clock. Despite the Tempo narrowing the gap to four points in the final minute, Bueckers’ clutch jumper pushed the lead back to six before a charge was called on Isabelle Harrison.

Improving her shooting accuracy in the second half, Bueckers went 7 of 11 from the field and made all seven of her free throws, solidifying the Wings’ victory. Laura Juskaite contributed 18 points, and Kia Nurse added 16 points for Toronto, who played without starters Brittney Sykes and Julie Allemand.
