Published on

A man suspected of perpetrating the Huntingdon train assault faces additional charges related to other alleged offenses. Anthony Williams, 32, residing on Langford Road, Peterborough, will be presented at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today for seven more charges, as stated by British Transport Police. These new accusations stem from incidents reportedly occurring on October 31, the day before the train incident.

Williams now faces additional charges, as confirmed by BTP Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy, who emphasized the significance of these new allegations. The investigation into the distressing event at Huntingdon has extended to include other offenses previously reported to the authorities or uncovered during the inquiry. Collaborating with Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service, the authorities have brought forth these charges.

Williams had previously been accused of ten counts of attempted murder in connection with the train incident. Following the assault, a train crew member who sustained serious injuries while safeguarding passengers has been discharged from the hospital. Samir Zitouni, known as Sam, was on duty aboard the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train en route from Doncaster to London during the attack in Cambridgeshire on November 1.

LNER expressed admiration for the 48-year-old employee, acknowledging his role in saving numerous lives over his more than two decades of service. British Transport Police disclosed that Mr. Zitouni has been released from the hospital to continue recuperation at home. His family expressed gratitude for the public’s support and the kind words regarding Sam’s courageous actions during the attack. Although pleased to have him home, they requested privacy to care for him during his ongoing recovery.
