Two teenagers described as “angry” allegedly stabbed a man in the heart and hurled racial slurs at him as he lay dying, a court was informed.
The 16 and 17-year-old boys reportedly showed pride in their actions after attacking Kamran Aman as he was trying to enter his vehicle. The younger teen, in a state of intoxication along with his companion, repeatedly used a derogatory term aimed at Kamran who was fatally injured on the pavement.
The youths, whose identities are protected due to their age, reportedly targeted 38-year-old Mr. Aman without any justifiable cause before using a kitchen knife to attack him in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. Owen Edwards KC, the prosecutor, emphasized the dangerous outcome of intoxicated young men equipping themselves with weapons.
On the night of June 30, Kamran Aman, a 38-year-old husband and father, fell victim to a deadly stabbing just a few meters from his mother’s residence in Barry Road, Barry. According to Mr. Edwards, the young men, under the influence of alcohol, initiated an unprovoked assault on Kamran as he was getting into his car.
One of the teens allegedly initiated the attack, followed by his friend who fetched a large kitchen knife and stabbed Kamran in the heart. The prosecution stated that the two perpetrators callously left Kamran to bleed out on the pavement while neighbors tried to help him.
Despite efforts from passersby to save his life, Kamran succumbed to his injuries before emergency services arrived. The teenagers attempted to clean the knife with bleach before fleeing the scene, leading to their subsequent arrest on suspicion of murder.
During police interviews, the 17-year-old claimed self-defense and denied using a knife or racist language, while the 16-year-old denied causing severe harm to Kamran or knowing about the knife. Both have confessed to manslaughter but deny the charge of murder.
The prosecution maintains that both individuals collaborated in the assault on Kamran, intending to cause him significant physical harm at the very least, resulting in a murder charge. The trial at Cardiff Crown Court is ongoing.
