Selma Blair’s Arrest: Spokesperson Challenges Narrative

Published on

Selma Blair’s spokesperson has addressed the recent arrest of the actress following an alleged incident during a flight on October 11. In a statement to CBC News, Blair’s representative expressed concerns about the public narrative being based primarily on a police statement and an old headline.

Blair was taken into custody after allegedly causing injury to two flight attendants during a flight from Los Angeles to New York. She was also charged with assaulting a police officer and a nurse at the hospital. Her representative emphasized that some journalists have portrayed Blair as a person rather than just a headline.

During her court appearance on October 12, Blair pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and was released on bail. The spokesperson clarified that Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight and did not intend to harm anyone.

According to charging documents, Blair allegedly kicked a police officer and a nurse while being restrained on a stretcher. Her attorney explained that her actions were not deliberate and attributed them to missing doses of medication for her multiple sclerosis, a condition Blair has been open about since 2018.

The statement highlighted Blair’s ongoing advocacy work for disability rights and her resilience despite living with pain and the challenges of multiple sclerosis. It also addressed the confiscation of her service dog during the incident and mentioned Blair’s entrepreneurial ventures.

Blair’s spokesperson emphasized that there is more to the story than what has been reported and urged people to consider all the facts before making judgments. Despite the recent incident, Blair has maintained a relatively low profile in Hollywood but has remained active in advocacy and is set to appear in the upcoming film “Silent.”
