The World Nomad Games, a celebration of traditional nomadic sports and culture, are currently taking place in Kyrgyzstan. Athletes representing 104 countries are participating in the event, which focuses on showcasing sports from the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. The games, featuring various events, will conclude this Sunday.

The 6th edition of the Games is being held in Kyrchyn Gorge, located approximately 314 kilometers east of the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek. Participants and spectators have gathered at the venue throughout the week to witness the competitions.

During the Games, participants have engaged in various traditional activities, including competitions involving golden eagles and hunting birds. Notable events include the traditional equestrian discipline called “tyiyn enmei,” where riders gallop at high speeds to pick up coins or pouches from the ground while remaining mounted.

Additionally, horse riders from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia have competed in the traditional Central Asian sports of “kok-boru” and “buzkashi,” where mounted players vie for points by throwing the carcass of a headless goat into a well. Archery competitions and displays of craftsmanship skills have also captivated spectators, offering a diverse and engaging experience beyond the sporting events.
