An explosion occurred near a train station in Augsburg, Germany, prompting a temporary closure of the transport hub. The suspicious object found was later deemed harmless, leading to the reopening of the station at 10 a.m. Police confirmed that train services resumed following the incident.

Authorities reported that an unidentified object exploded near the station at 3:15 a.m., causing minor injuries to a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man, both Ukrainian citizens. A second suspicious object was discovered at the main train station, which led to the station’s closure at 8:30 a.m.

Explosives experts from the Bavarian state criminal police office investigated the scene, while police spokesperson Timo Küfner stated that it was too early to determine a motive for the explosion.

Earlier reports suggested that a hand grenade detonated in front of a jewelry store, indicating that the train station was not the primary target. The disruption to road traffic and public transportation in the vicinity was resolved as the situation unfolded.

Augsburg, with a population of 308,000 residents, is situated in Bavaria, approximately 78 kilometers northwest of Munich. Recent tensions between Germany and Russia escalated following a drone attack attempt at Leipzig/Halle Airport, resulting in diplomatic actions taken against Moscow.
