An Israeli air raid resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, including a three-year-old child, in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday, as reported by health officials. Medics in Gaza confirmed that the strike, near a bakery in Deir al-Balah, claimed the lives of Tayyem Hamdan, 3, and Hussam Nusair, and left several others injured.

The Israeli military stated that the attack targeted and eliminated a Hamas militant who was allegedly involved in previous assaults against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has not yet responded to these allegations.

Despite a ceasefire supported by the U.S. last October that brought an end to major hostilities in the region, Israeli military actions have continued, aiming to prevent potential attacks by Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire terms and obstructing the implementation of a broader peace initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes Israeli withdrawals and the disarmament of Hamas.

According to health officials in Gaza, more than 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives since the ceasefire agreement came into effect last October, whereas the Israeli military reports that four Israeli soldiers have been killed during the same period.
