150 corgis recently gathered in Vilnius, Lithuania, for an international race celebrating the small Welsh herding dogs. The event featured various activities such as a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a competition for the loudest bark. Participants from nine countries, including the United States and Britain, where the breed is popular, took part in the fifth Corgi Race Vilnius.
Organizer Edvinas Miskas noted the significant growth of the event, from 40 corgis in the first year to 150 from diverse countries in the latest edition. The competition included qualifiers, semifinals, and a final race where American corgi GG emerged as the winner, with Mr. Corgington from the U.S. coming in second and Lithuania’s Moka securing third place.
Aside from speed, the event showcased the dogs’ and owners’ skills in various challenges. The costume parade featured creative outfits, with a corgi named Amigo impressing the judges and the public with a knight-themed costume. In the “smartest nose” challenge, Latvian corgis Tora and Rusty shared the victory, while Mr. Corgington clinched the title for the loudest bark.
The event drew attention to the unique talents and personalities of corgis, with participants from different countries coming together for a day of friendly competition and fun.
