WhatsApp has introduced a significant update with four new features that users shouldn’t overlook. The chat app, owned by Meta, has rolled out a free update that includes enhancements such as easier storage management and improved chat history transfer between iOS and Android devices. This update aims to streamline the process of switching between different devices.
According to WhatsApp, these changes are currently being released, and users can expect to receive the update on their devices in the upcoming weeks.
The company stated, “Our chats hold valuable memories over time, capturing conversations with loved ones, fun moments with friends, and the photos and videos we cherish. To enhance your experience, we are introducing new features to make WhatsApp more user-friendly, whether you are organizing, balancing work and personal life, or maximizing the potential of every chat.”
So, what can users expect from these new features? Here are the four upcoming additions:
1. Simplified storage management: WhatsApp tends to consume a lot of data, especially with images and videos shared in chats that occupy device storage. With the latest update, users can now easily view and delete large files directly from any chat, freeing up space without deleting the entire conversation. By selecting “Manage Storage” after tapping the chat name, users can choose to clear only media files while retaining message history.
2. Seamless cross-platform chat transfer: Transitioning between phones, particularly from iPhone to Android, can be daunting. The new WhatsApp chat transfer tool now supports transfers from iOS to Android, in addition to transfers within the same platform. With just a few taps, messages, photos, and videos can be effortlessly transferred.
3. Dual accounts on one phone—now available on iOS: iOS users can now simultaneously access two WhatsApp accounts on a single device, similar to Android users. This feature eliminates the need for separate devices to manage work and personal accounts. Profile photos will be displayed in the bottom tab to avoid confusion, ensuring users know which account they are using.
4. Mood-matching stickers: WhatsApp now suggests sticker options that align with users’ moods as they type emojis, allowing them to easily swap any emoji for a matching sticker with a single tap.
These features are currently being rolled out and will soon be accessible to all users.
“We believe these enhancements will simplify your WhatsApp experience,” added the messaging platform.
