A mother who is accused of neglecting her toddler, leading to the child’s tragic death, reportedly showed no remorse upon discovering the lifeless body. The incident involves a Utah couple facing murder charges over the death of their 18-month-old daughter, Ruby Marie Murray. The parents, 31-year-old Carrie Marie Murray and Mitchell Chesnut Murray, have been arrested and are currently held without bond on charges of aggravated murder and child abuse.
Carrie Murray, a trained nurse, allegedly found her daughter unresponsive in a crib and called 911, but did not attempt to administer lifesaving measures, claiming she believed the child was beyond help. She expressed a lack of guilt over the situation, stating that it was the child’s time to go. Subsequent investigations revealed appalling conditions in Ruby’s crib, with old food, wrappers, and sippy cups scattered around, along with remnants of toasted waffles. The room was kept warm, but the toddler’s body temperature was dangerously low.
The parents admitted that Ruby was fed mostly toasted waffles and rarely received proper baby food. Baby monitor footage indicated that Ruby spent long hours in her crib, with minimal interaction from her parents or caretakers. Mitchell Murray mentioned that it was common for Ruby to have “crib days,” where she stayed in the cot all day while he worked. The investigation determined that Ruby’s death resulted from dehydration and undernutrition due to the parents’ neglectful actions.
Carrie and Mitchell Murray are detained as the investigation progresses, facing serious allegations of mistreatment and neglect that led to the tragic demise of their young daughter.
