Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to pay a visit to Canada next week, as per information shared with Radio-Canada. The Globe and Mail initially reported this planned visit, which has now been corroborated by two separate sources. These sources have indicated that President Zelenskyy’s itinerary in Canada may involve two stops.

Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada took place in December, during which he held discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. for talks with President Donald Trump, with the aim of resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Prime Minister’s Office has opted not to provide any comments regarding the anticipated visit.

Recent developments include Russian President Vladimir Putin stating that several countries, including the U.S. and China, are prepared to assist in reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Putin emphasized that ultimately, the resolution must come from the conflicting nations themselves – Russia and Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to those involved in seeking a resolution and expressed optimism about the prospects for peace.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking in Kyiv, expressed optimism about a renewed vigor in peace efforts, marked by increased political and diplomatic engagements in various global capitals. Sybiha refrained from giving further details, urging reporters to stay updated with the latest news.

After enduring 4½ years of Europe’s most fatal conflict since World War II, it is unusual for either side to express positivity about the peace process. The last mediated talks between the two sides occurred in February.
