A 17-year-old kickboxing champion tragically lost her life while seeking shelter during a missile attack carried out by forces under Vladimir Putin’s command. Karina Bakhur, a talented Ukrainian athlete, succumbed to injuries sustained in the missile strikes on a residential area in Berestyn, Kharkiv region, as she attempted to reach a basement shelter in her building.
Karina, who held titles as the European champion in “Cossack duel” and the Ukrainian kickboxing champion, passed away at the hospital. She was also recognized as a Master of Sports in kickboxing in Ukraine. Despite her promising career and international competition experience, she fell victim to the violent actions that claimed her life.
Authorities confirmed her death, stating that she was fatally injured during the attack and later died while receiving medical treatment. A heartfelt tribute described her as a vibrant, young talent with a bright future ahead, cruelly taken away at the hands of Russian forces in a late-night missile assault on Berestyn.
The recent deadly assault ordered by Putin comes amid escalating tensions and reports of potential war preparations against NATO. Wieslaw Kukula, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, warned of Russia’s increasing readiness for potential aggression, describing the current situation as a pre-war scenario marked by hybrid warfare tactics.
Estonia’s foreign minister also expressed concerns about the looming threat posed by Russia’s military to NATO member states. The international community remains on edge as geopolitical tensions continue to escalate, raising fears of further conflict in the region.
