The campaign and White House of U.S. President Donald Trump have recently removed certain Taylor Swift songs from their social media videos. Despite utilizing two of Swift’s songs in the past week, neither the White House nor a representative for Swift have responded to requests for comment.

Although Swift has not directly addressed Trump recently, she previously endorsed his Democratic rival, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 campaign, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not support Trump as president.

Trump has openly criticized Swift, expressing his dislike for her after she endorsed Harris. He has made derogatory remarks about her appearance following his public disapproval of her. Other artists, like Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their music.

On the Trump campaign’s TikTok page, two Swift songs were featured over the past week. One video, inspired by Swift’s lyrics, referenced her popular songs, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).” Another video posted in June showcased Trump interacting with children, attending a UFC match, and rallying, set to Swift’s new song “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

This is not the first time the Trump administration has used Swift’s music in their content. Past instances include a video in April that included Swift’s “High Infidelity” and lyrics from her song “Do you really want to know where I was April 29th?”. In November, another TikTok video featured Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” from her album “The Life of a Showgirl.”

The use of Swift’s songs in these videos has sparked significant social media reactions. A White House spokesperson mentioned that the videos were strategically created to gain media attention. The Trump communications team, known for their active presence on social media, has posted various videos featuring popular songs alongside imagery related to Trump’s policies and actions.
