One of the standout jockeys of the Flat season has been hospitalized following a neck injury sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Clifford Lee, a 29-year-old stable jockey under Karl Burke, has had a remarkable season with 94 wins, including his first Group 1 victory aboard Venetian Sun in the Prix Morny. Despite his recent success and suspension, which followed his last four wins, Lee was hopeful to reach 100 wins upon his return.
Unfortunately, Lee’s goal may be delayed as he was injured during a holiday mishap. Burke disclosed that Lee, while vacationing in Scotland, had a fall from a cross-country motorcycle at a low speed, resulting in a head injury requiring hospitalization.
Originally from south-east London with no racing pedigree, Lee’s move to Yorkshire to work with Burke has propelled him to become one of Britain’s top jockeys. His talent in judging pace was evident in consecutive wins at the Cambridgeshire with Boiling Point and Liberty Lane, both trained by Burke.
Supportive messages have flooded in for Lee, who is currently receiving treatment in Edinburgh. Well-wishers have expressed hopes for his swift recovery and speculated on a bright future for the talented jockey.
