A survivor of a deadly storm that claimed the life of Victoria Bond has recounted the harrowing experience as they battled the treacherous blizzard. Victoria, a 40-year-old PR professional who had worked with celebrities like Cheryl Tweedy and Annabelle Wallis, was on a hiking expedition in Patagonia, Chile, when disaster struck.

The group of adventurers, while traversing the Torres del Paine nature reserve, got trapped in a severe 120mph snowstorm, akin to a Category 3 hurricane. Amid the ferocious winds and heavy snowfall, nine tourists went missing initially. Tragically, five individuals, including two Mexicans, two Germans, and Victoria, did not survive.

Chris Aldridge, a companion of Victoria during the ordeal, has shared insights into their final moments, describing the terrifying descent down the mountain amidst uncontrollable speeds. Recalling the incident, Chris mentioned the icy and perilous conditions they faced, with strong winds impairing visibility.

Upon returning to their camp, they discovered several group members with severe injuries, battling hypothermia and frostbite. As they realized not everyone had made it back to camp, the group took it upon themselves to search for the missing, ultimately being too late to save Victoria.

Following the tragedy, CONAF, the organization overseeing Chile’s national parks, expressed deep regret and solidarity with the families affected. They pledged to review safety protocols in collaboration with concessionaires to enhance emergency response capabilities.

A spokesperson from Visit Isles of Scilly, where Victoria had previously worked, mourned her loss, highlighting her vibrant personality and passion for life. Victoria was remembered for her charisma, charm, and infectious laugh, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew her.
