Keir Starmer has strongly criticized Nigel Farage, urging him to look into any additional connections between Reform and Russia.

During a recent session in the Commons, Starmer expressed disbelief and concern over the fact that a former high-ranking member of Farage’s party was sentenced to over ten years in prison for accepting Russian bribes. Nathan Gill, the former Welsh leader of Reform UK, received the lengthy sentence after confessing to delivering pre-written speeches while serving as a member of the European Parliament.

In his address to the Commons, Starmer emphasized the need for Reform’s leadership to launch an inquiry to understand how such actions occurred within their party and to uncover any other possible ties.

The call for investigation came in response to criticism from Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who also condemned Reform. Starmer emphasized that Reform’s pro-Putin stance would hinder efforts to unite allies on global issues, especially in light of recent aggressive actions by Vladimir Putin’s regime.

The pressure on Farage to investigate further has intensified following Gill’s misconduct. Gill, who previously served as a UKIP and Brexit Party MEP, admitted to multiple counts of blackmail.

Deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, denounced Putin as a “vile dictator” and dismissed criticisms as mere distractions. Tice reaffirmed his and Reform’s unwavering support for Ukraine, highlighting past contributions to the country’s defense efforts.

Farage, in response to queries, emphasized that Reform is not an investigative authority. Gill’s involvement with a pro-Russia figure, who was later accused of treason and removed to Russia, further raised concerns about potential foreign influence within the party.
