A golfer from Saskatchewan achieved his first-ever hole-in-one on his way to victory at the National Special Olympics. Taylor Carter, a resident of Regina, has been playing golf since the age of four and joined the Special Olympics team in 2013. The memorable moment occurred at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club during the competition.

Taylor expressed his disbelief and emotional reaction to the achievement, stating that watching the video of the shot brings tears to his eyes every time. His nephew, Ashton Carter, served as his caddy during the event. The pivotal shot took place on the 135-yard 16th hole, where Taylor confidently used a nine-iron.

The excitement escalated as Taylor’s brother confirmed the hole-in-one, leading to jubilant celebrations by his family. The heartwarming scene was captured on video, including a touching embrace between Taylor and his best friend Jason, who had traveled to support him.

Despite the initial shock and spike in his heart rate, mistaken for a medical emergency by his phone, Taylor maintained his composure to complete the round successfully. He ended the three-day tournament with a total score of 162 over three rounds, clinching the gold medal in his division by a two-stroke margin.

Ashton Carter shared his awe at the experience, emphasizing the confidence and authenticity displayed by all athletes at the competition. Taylor expressed gratitude towards his supporters and hinted at potential future competitions, while focusing on celebrating with his loved ones for the time being.
