A village in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region was struck by a Russian missile attack on Tuesday, resulting in the death of 10 individuals, as confirmed by Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, emphasizing that it targeted a busy intersection in Pechenihy, a location surrounded by residential buildings, post office, and stores. Zelenskyy shared images of the destruction caused by the attack, including damaged buildings, burning cars, and emergency responders aiding injured individuals.
The governor of the region, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that 17 people were injured in the assault. The attack inflicted damage on 10 private buildings, a café, a post office, a store, and several cars in the village. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office stated that Russia employed two small Banderol cruise missiles in the strike.
Simultaneously, Ukraine conducted a large-scale drone offensive on Moscow and its vicinity, deploying 620 drones in the early hours of Tuesday. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin disclosed that Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over Moscow, with some causing damage, including injuries to three individuals near the city. Additionally, other Russian-controlled regions, such as Crimea, experienced heavy drone attacks, impacting power supplies and infrastructure.
Responding to the drone attacks, Russia warned Britain about consequences for supplying drones to Ukraine. The Russian embassy in London cautioned of repercussions for London’s involvement in supporting Ukraine against Russia. The British Defence Ministry reiterated its solidarity with Ukraine, emphasizing its commitment to supplying necessary equipment for defense against the Russian invasion. Britain had previously announced plans to provide 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
