“Retired Officer Earns £5,500 Reporting Empty Homes”

Published on

During the costly Christmas season, many individuals seek additional income to replenish their finances post-festivities. Roy Foulkes, a retired police officer residing in West Hallam, Derbyshire, has successfully earned over £5,500 in cash and vouchers by identifying and reporting vacant and dilapidated properties via YouSpotProperty.

Introduced to YouSpotProperty in 2024, Roy utilizes the platform to supplement his earnings. The initiative compensates individuals for pinpointing and reporting long-term unoccupied residences. Initially, a £20 Amazon or M&S voucher is awarded for correctly identifying an empty property. If the property is subsequently purchased, renovated, and resold by YouSpotProperty, the spotter receives 1% of the purchase price, capped at £10,000.

Roy has garnered £4,750 from 1% rewards after two properties he reported were salvaged by YouSpotProperty, along with 39 £20 vouchers totaling £780. The rewards from the first property amounted to £2,350, and more recently, he received £1,620 for the second property. These earnings have funded household items, vacations, and shared experiences with his grandchildren.

The initial property that qualified for the 1% reward was discovered while Roy was strolling through his former patrol area. Despite previously reporting the property to the local council without any action taken, Roy’s persistence paid off when he found YouSpotProperty online, simplifying the reporting process.

The second property caught his attention near a former ex-local authority residence in Derby. Roy’s vigilance led to the identification of neglected properties, contributing to the community while earning extra income. YouSpotProperty aids in revitalizing unoccupied homes, with rewards shared with the public for their contributions.

The company’s co-founder, Benjamin Radstone, emphasized the significance of addressing the issue of empty homes and the successful revival of numerous properties through their platform. YouSpotProperty continues to incentivize individuals to report eligible properties, with a substantial impact on bringing vacant properties back into use.
