An awful mother neglected and deprived her daughter, leading to the girl reaching an extremely thin and skeletal state before passing away.
Kyneddi Miller’s lifeless body was found on a rug in the family home’s bathroom after police conducted a welfare check. The 14-year-old had been severely neglected by Julie A Miller, resulting in her death due to severe malnourishment in Morrisvale, West Virginia.
Prior to these events, Miller, aged 51, had withdrawn Kyneddi from school during the COVID-19 pandemic, citing concerns about the virus spreading to her elderly parents. Despite claiming she would homeschool her daughter, Miller instead subjected her to cruel mistreatment.
Miller appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the death of a child by a parent, guardian, or custodian. She is expected to receive a prison sentence of up to 15 years and will be required to register on the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.
During the court proceedings at Boone County Circuit Court in Morrisvale, it was revealed that Miller initially denied any wrongdoing but later changed her plea. Additionally, Julie’s parents, Donna Stone and Jerry Stone, are facing charges related to the death of a child by a parent, guardian, or custodian.
Donna confirmed to investigators that Kyneddi was taken out of school due to the pandemic. She stated her granddaughter had been homeschooled by the family but had minimal outside contact and had not received medical attention for years.
Donna alleged that her granddaughter suffered from an eating disorder and had not consumed food for an extended period leading up to her death. However, investigations revealed that Miller had failed to provide proper care and nutrition to her daughter.
Prosecutor Dan Holstein emphasized that Miller knowingly neglected her child’s needs, leading to the tragic outcome. The sentencing has been postponed until February 25, 2026, at the same court in Morrisvale, West Virginia.
