Mother Faces Charges After Son’s Tragic Death

Published on

A woman has been taken into custody in connection with the tragic death of her son, shortly after she initiated a crowdfunding campaign to assist with financial difficulties arising from the loss. Raven Louise Broniecki, 29, is facing charges including involuntary manslaughter, cruelty to children, criminal negligence causing excessive mental or physical pain, and reckless conduct, according to law enforcement authorities.

Limited information has been disclosed about the incident, with details regarding the circumstances of the boy’s death and the specific reasons for the charges against his mother yet to be made public. Broniecki’s arrest followed her launch of a now-deleted GoFundMe page to gather donations for funeral expenses, where she identified her son as Keith Richard. In the removed post, she expressed the need for financial support to settle outstanding bills after using their resources for the funeral and related expenses, emphasizing the emotional distress and challenges faced by their family with six children to care for.

The Hinesville Police Department in Georgia confirmed Broniecki’s arrest, noting that she was released from custody after posting a $22,300 bond.

In a separate case, a mother and her former partner have been accused of causing the death of her three-year-old son to make way for a child they planned to have together. The young boy, Matthew Maison, was tragically discovered deceased in his home in Port Huron Township, Michigan, by his caregivers on February 18, 2018.

The mother, Amanda Maison, and her then-boyfriend Maurice Houle were arrested in connection with the child’s death. Autopsy results revealed that Matthew had succumbed to injuries from blunt force trauma and potential suffocation.

Allegedly, the ex-couple confessed to mistreating the child when taken into custody, as indicated by prosecutors. Maison, aged 33, pleaded guilty to second-degree homicide charges related to her son’s death, acknowledging her abusive actions towards Matthew during a court appearance where she admitted to causing harm to him.

During court proceedings, Maison revealed incidents of physical abuse, such as pushing Matthew’s head into a wall, and disclosed her complicity in concealing the abuse from authorities. She also admitted to collaborating with her former partner to hide the true cause of Matthew’s death from law enforcement.
