A suspect linked to the fatal shooting of a man in Niagara Falls on July 16 has been apprehended in Montreal and is set to be extradited back to the city in Ontario.
Josta MacNeal was taken into custody by the Service de police de la Ville de Montreal last Thursday in connection with the death of 35-year-old Mitchell Snoddon, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service. She is facing a second-degree murder charge.
Initially reported to be 30 years old, MacNeal was named a suspect, while Maaroof Bangi, previously identified as 23 years old, is still on the run.
As no firearm has been recovered, authorities warn that Bangi should be considered armed and dangerous.
A police press release advised the public not to approach Bangi if spotted and to immediately call 911.
Authorities urged Bangi to seek legal counsel and surrender himself.
According to the original police statement, two suspects visited an apartment complex on Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls just before 9 p.m. ET on July 16 and shot Snoddon.
Following the shooting, Snoddon was transported to a hospital by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Motive Behind Shooting
Officials believe the attack was targeted rather than a random act, though they advised caution to the public.
Previously, Niagara police released images of the two suspects and appealed for information on their whereabouts.
Initially, authorities stated that the suspects were driving a 2022-2026 Nissan Rogue SUV.
At one point, it was reported that the fugitives were in a 2016 Toyota Camry with a damaged windshield and passenger side doors, last seen on Highway 45 in Hastings, Ontario.
