A man, Brian Alan Jutson Sr, aged 47, has received a life sentence for brutally murdering his wife using a pair of scissors. The incident occurred in 2023, leading to his confinement in a state correctional facility for the rest of his life. Jutson traveled from Texas on a seven-hour drive to strangle and stab his wife over 30 times due to suspicions of her infidelity.
In June 2023, the College Station Police Department responded to a distressing 911 call reporting the murder of Sherry Shugart Jutson by her husband. Upon arrival, emergency responders found Sherry’s lifeless body in the master bedroom. Two children were in the house during the incident but were unaware of the violent act.
Authorities confirmed a domestic disturbance between the couple, with the wife being fatally stabbed during the altercation. The husband fled the scene but was later apprehended with the help of the Bryan, Texas, Police Department and the Department of Public Safety. During a police interview, Jutson confessed to leaving his job and driving for seven hours to confront his wife over suspected infidelity.
Jutson admitted to strangling and stabbing his wife with scissors, recalling her pleas for mercy before her death. Following the murder, he cleaned himself in a shower before leaving the scene. Although Jutson pleaded guilty to the crime, prosecutors presented additional evidence during the trial, including witness testimonies of the attack and messages sent by Jutson to his wife before her demise.
On November 13, District Judge Kyle Hawthorne sentenced Jutson to life imprisonment for his heinous actions.
