Lily Allen has announced that she’s getting back to work after taking a break to jet off to “rehab” amid rumours that she’s split up with husband David Harbour, 49.
Lily, 39, shared a photo of herself and best friend Miquita Oliver on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, alongside audio of Miquita from their BBC Sounds podcast Miss Me?
In the short clip, Miquita revealed that Lily would return to the podcast next week, after the singer announced that she was briefly stepping back last month.
“So, next week’s Miss Me? is a very special episode. We are going to actually turn into a pirate radio station for one night only on the BBC to welcome home the return of Miss Lily Allen,” Miquita shared.
“That’s right, she coming home! She’s coming home. And we will be discussing for Lily Allen’s return the theme for next week’s ‘Listen B***h,’ which is… things to do before you die. So many things to do before we die, and as you get older you realise you might not do all of them. And that’s okay. Send voicenotes to [phone number], let’s welcome home our baby properly.”
Alongside the announcement, Lily also added a link for friends to send voice notes ahead of her grand return. Lily revealed that she was taking a break from the podcast on January 13, signing out an episode by saying: “I’ll see you on the other side. Hopefully I’ll be in a better place.”
While the BBC promised that Lily was only taking “a short break,” an insider claimed that the star left work in order to spend several weeks at a clinic after struggling with her split from David.
“It was very painful for Lily to return home. David used to be her saviour and now he’s a trigger for her. Lily settled her kids back into the family home and took them to school for their new term, then flew herself straight to rehab. She went a day earlier than intended as she felt wobbly and desperate to escape,” the source told the Mail.
They added that Lily planned to spend more than a month at the £8,000 a week clinic, and described: “She will spend several weeks at the residential retreat in the US where she is expected to take part in intensive group counselling sessions and one-on-one therapy in which she will be urged to ‘unpack’ her emotions.”
Lily and David met on exclusive dating app Raya, and a source claimed that – despite deleting the app after they met – David rejoined the app in secret, and that Lily found evidence he’d been using Raya to meet other women.
The insider claimed that Lily had suspicions about David’s online activity, and decided to investigate whether he was back on Raya by creating her account targeted at women. “Lily was looking for women that were on Raya and cross-referencing them with women David follows on Instagram to try to figure out who he was seeing. She was doing her Wagatha thing,” they said.
“Lily only rejoined Raya to try to figure out whether he was seeing someone. Lily has never even looked at anyone since she met David. She is devastated. He broke up with Lily a month ago,” a source told The Mail on Sunday.
