Lando Norris secured his place in history as the 11th British driver to claim the coveted Drivers’ Championship title by finishing third at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Heading into the race weekend, Norris held a 12-point lead over defending champion Max Verstappen, with his teammate Oscar Piastri also in contention, trailing Verstappen by four points.

Despite missing out on a chance to clinch the championship in the previous race in Qatar due to a strategic error by McLaren, Norris faced intense pressure in Abu Dhabi to seal the title.

Qualifying saw Norris securing a front-row start by outpacing Piastri and lining up behind Verstappen on the grid.

During the race, Norris faced early challenges, losing a position to Piastri and then having to fend off Charles Leclerc, who was strong on race pace. Strategic pit stops and decisive moves helped Norris maintain his position ahead of his rivals.

A key moment came when Tsunoda was penalized for blocking Norris, allowing the British driver to make a crucial overtake and extend his lead over his competitors.

As the race progressed, Norris managed his advantage well, responding to Leclerc’s late charge and ensuring a comfortable gap to secure the championship.

With a flawless performance, Norris completed his seven-year journey in Formula 1 by claiming the championship, bringing British motorsport back to the pinnacle of success.
