Irish Woman Faces Legal Trouble in Magaluf Assault

Published on

A 38-year-old married woman from Ireland is facing legal trouble for allegedly sexually assaulting a younger male tourist during their stay at a hotel in Magaluf. The incident, which took place in a Turkish steam bath at Hotel Martinique, led to her arrest and subsequent release on bail after spending a night in police custody.

The woman, residing in County Cork, is accused of inappropriately touching the 18-year-old man’s genitals without his consent. Prosecutors claim that she initiated the assault by sitting next to him in the steam bath and proceeded to fondle him against his will until he objected and left the scene.

In addition to a potential 18-month prison sentence, authorities are seeking a prohibition on the woman working with minors for an extended period and requiring her to cover court expenses if found guilty. They also aim for her to compensate the male victim with €500 (£440).

According to sources familiar with the case, the woman engaged in conversation with the man in the sauna before following him to the steam bath, where the alleged assault occurred. Hotel staff intervened upon the man’s complaint and alerted the police, leading to the woman’s arrest in the presence of her husband.

The woman’s legal representative, Joan Arbos, had expressed intentions to challenge the charges against his client, asserting that no criminal offense had transpired. The trial date is pending, and in Spain, sentences under two years are typically suspended for first-time offenders.
