Boots £10 sale halves price of viral ‘tattoo’ eyeliner that lasted through a car crash

Share

Never has an eyeliner been talked about more than in 2018 when KVD Beauty’s Tattoo Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner became the subject of a very surprising beauty review from a car crash survivor. ER nurse Shelby Pagan had nothing but positive things to say about the beauty product after describing it as ‘budge-proof’ following her scary accident in which she was hit by a distracted driver going 55mph.

She posted a snap of herself in a neck brace with mascara running down her face, but her tattoo liner was completely unsmudged. The review—which she posted to KVD Beauty’s Tattoo Liner product page—quickly went viral after X (previously Twitter) users clocked it and shared it around the app.

KVD’s eyeliner continues to fly off shelves to this day since the news of its staying power spread like wildfire. However, at £21, it isn’t affordable for all. That was, until now. Thanks to Boots’ £10 Tuesday sale, the exact eyeliner that gained thousands of new fans after Shelby posted her review has been reduced to £10 for 24hrs, saving beauty lovers £11.

If you can’t remember the original testimonial of the product, Shelby penned at the time: “This product is truly amazing. June 28th I was pulled over in my car calling for roadside assistance when a distracted driver hit me going 55mph. I was taken via ambulance to the ER where I remained for 8 hours. My mascara was running down my face from crying and all other products had been wiped off in the transfer to hospital. But not my tattoo eyeliner. I am posting a pic to show you this product lasts and looks amazing through anything. Never buying any other liner again.”

The nurse, who went on to make a full recovery, isn’t the only fan of the product – though, she definitely wins the award for the best beauty review ever. Plenty of other buyers have shared their thoughts about its staying power on the Boots product page.

“It’s good and doesn’t budge, and it’s very black and the thinnest eyeliner I ever used, so it’s easy to use and gets nice precise wings,” says one, while a second adds: “Finally found an eyeliner that is so easy to work with my lines are coming out perfect. It’s like using a pen, and it goes on smooth and easy, and I’m practising and making very, very good lines.”

A third says: “Been my favourite and only one since 2015!”

However, a few other more recent reviews point out that following a reformulation of the product, it doesn’t have quite the same staying magic. “This eyeliner was perfect. But the size of the pen has changed and sadly it is for the worse. The formula also seems to have changed.”

What we need now is Shelby to weigh in on the reformulation to see if it really has changed for the worse or better! Either way, the KDV Beauty Tattoo Liquid Liner remains an undeniable favourite, and largely thanks to that review from seven years ago. And now that it’s halved in price, it’s a great time to try it if it’s been on your want list.

Elsewhere, if stay-proof make-up is up your street, our Mirror beauty writer Bethan has tried countless mascaras in her time and the Clinique High Impact Mascara is the only one she reaches for now. “This is the best mascara I have ever used! I bought Black/Brown, and the colour is perfect for me. The brush separates and lengthens with absolutely no clumping or spiky lashes. My go-to mascara from now on,” she says.
