A father contacted the authorities to report his own child but inadvertently revealed his own alleged mistreatment when investigators uncovered disturbing details. Thomas Barker, aged 44, faces charges of inappropriate behavior towards a minor after he phoned in to complain about his 11-year-old son’s disobedience and lack of attentiveness. However, the situation took a turn when law enforcement arrived at Barker’s residence.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that Barker was the actual instigator of the issue, reportedly making threats towards the child when the juvenile asked for food. The child recounted being told offensive statements like “get out of my room or face consequences” and even more disturbing remarks urging violence.

Reports from lawandcrime.com indicate that Barker explicitly stated his refusal to assist his son, going as far as making horrifying comments such as, “I’ll worsen your situation if you are in trouble.” Video evidence of the incident was reportedly provided to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell remarked on the severity of the situation, referencing a biblical verse and highlighting the lack of care shown towards the child. The child has since been relocated to a family member’s care, as reported by Wis TV station.

In a separate incident, a father faces charges of child torture and aggravated child abuse after subjecting his three young children, aged two, four, and eight, to a demanding hike across challenging terrain. Distressing video footage captured during the hike shows the children, ill-prepared and inadequately dressed, expressing fear and concern about their safety.

Initially deemed a harmless outing, the hike turned perilous as the father persisted in climbing the mountain despite the children’s pleas to turn back. According to legal documents reviewed by Law & Crime, the father’s actions were deemed selfish and irresponsible, putting his children in harm’s way during the ordeal.

The victims’ ordeal spanned 24 hours, during which they endured cold and fatigue while expressing the desire to return home. The father’s failure to prioritize his children’s safety and well-being has raised serious concerns about his ability to protect them.
