Fatal Collision in Ireland Claims Two Lives

Two drivers lost their lives, and several individuals sustained injuries in a severe collision involving a bus, truck, and car in Ireland today.

The tragic incident occurred in Gormanston, Co Meath on the R132 this morning. Eyewitnesses reported the presence of multiple ambulances, medical vehicles, and fire engines at the scene.

The deceased bus driver has been identified as Paul Conway, a local resident. The second fatality was Wesley O’Reilly, also a local in his late 40s and the driver of the lorry involved in the crash.

The collision, which left around 12 people injured, took place on a busy section of the road. Paul Conway, in his 50s, was driving the Route 101 bus when the collision occurred early in the morning.

Peter Brady, a member of the Gormanston Community Association, described the R132 as a hazardous road, emphasizing the importance of the 101 bus service for the community.

Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan extended his condolences to the victims, emphasizing the need for road safety, especially during the holiday season.

The R132 in Gormanston remains closed following the fatal crash as investigations continue. Darren O’Rourke, Sinn Féin TD for Meath East, expressed his sympathies to the victims and their families.

Authorities are urging any witnesses to the collision to come forward and provide any relevant footage or information to assist in the investigation.

Passengers on the affected Bus Eireann service were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The road closure is expected to last for some time pending forensic examinations.

Gardaí have been actively involved at the crash site, coordinating the closure and diversion of traffic. Bus Éireann confirmed its involvement in the incident and stated that further details would be provided as they become available.

The community and emergency services are rallying together to support those affected by the tragedy, showing solidarity with the families during this difficult time.
