A dramatic moment unfolded as a drone successfully rescued a man from swift floodwaters in Vietnam. The man, identified as Nguyen Van Hat, was stranded on an island in Dak Lak province amid rising water levels. A rescue mission was swiftly organized to reach him.
Video footage captured on Friday morning depicted a large drone hovering above the turbulent floodwaters. Equipped with a life buoy attached to sturdy straps, the drone descended towards Nguyen, who clung to the lifeline as the drone struggled against the powerful current to pull him to safety.
Despite the intense battle with the floodwaters, the drone managed to lift Nguyen into the air and transport him across the river to a secure location. Nguyen, a farm worker, had become marooned on the island while working on a sandbar when the river’s waters surged around him.
Local rescuers, aided by a fellow farmer who brought the drone, swiftly intervened by securing a buoy to the drone and flying it to Nguyen’s location. Authorities, alerted to Nguyen’s plight, coordinated efforts to ensure his safe rescue using the drone.
The incident occurred amid severe flooding in Vietnam, resulting in numerous casualties and missing persons. Widespread rainfall in late October triggered floods across various regions, causing devastation and displacing residents. In Dak Lak province, a 61-year-old farmer recounted being stranded with his wife on their rooftop for two nights as floodwaters rose rapidly.
The farmer described the destruction in his neighborhood, lamenting the loss of property and the thick layer of mud covering everything. As of the weekend, several areas in the province remained inundated, according to official reports. The relentless downpour and subsequent flooding have inflicted significant damage on coastal and highland regions, leading to precarious situations for many residents.
