A powerful tornado wreaked havoc on the village of Pomas in southern France, resulting in numerous injuries and extensive damage to over 300 residences. Fortunately, no individuals are reported missing in the aftermath of the disaster.

The Aude prefecture confirmed that as of Tuesday morning, approximately 1,400 households remained without electricity. The tornado was captured swirling above the village of Verzeille, located just a few kilometers east of Pomas, late on Monday, as seen in a verified social media video. Many homes in its path suffered shattered windows.

In Preixan, situated a few kilometers north of Pomas, the tornado was also observed moving through the area, as depicted in a social media video authenticated by Reuters.

In the wake of the calamity, residents are assessing the damage and commencing cleanup efforts. Images show a man standing amidst the wreckage of a damaged house in Pomas. Additionally, debris litters the floor of the Saint Julien et Sainte Basilisse church following the collapse of its roof due to the tornado.
