“Child Murderer Colin Pitchfork Manipulated Inmate with Partner’s Money”

Published on

Child murderer Colin Pitchfork reportedly used money from his partner to manipulate and sexually assault a younger inmate, according to recently disclosed documents. Pitchfork, who was sentenced to life in 1988 for the brutal killings of two teenage girls, Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth, in Leicestershire, was denied parole last month. A Parole Board panel uncovered that Pitchfork, receiving additional funds from his partner, exploited and sexually assaulted a fellow prisoner for his own sexual gratification.

The panel stated that Pitchfork’s actions were driven by sexual motives as he befriended and assisted the young prisoner in his cell. Despite being sentenced to life with a minimum term of 30 years, later reduced to 28 years, for the heinous crimes committed in the 1980s, Pitchfork’s parole journey has been tumultuous. Released on license in 2021 but swiftly recalled for parole violations, Pitchfork’s subsequent parole attempt in 2023 was rejected after concerns were raised about his behavior in prison.

Documents indicated that Pitchfork, who confessed to exposing himself to numerous females, including over 1,000 girls and women, had been misusing funds from his prison job and money sent by his partner to purchase items for younger inmates, a breach of prison regulations. Furthermore, it was revealed that he failed to disclose a concerning letter written to a much younger convicted sexual offender in a different language.

Pitchfork’s disturbing past actions resurfaced during the parole hearings, recounting how he callously murdered Lynda and Dawn, leaving a trail of devastation in Leicestershire. The parole records shed light on his history of indecent exposure from a young age, driven by a distorted perception of relationships and influenced by significant women in his life. Despite his attempts at rehabilitation, concerns about his behavior in prison and his continued danger to society led to the decision to block his release.

Barbara Ashworth, the mother of Dawn Ashworth, expressed relief at the parole denial, emphasizing the perpetual danger Pitchfork poses to the public. The parole process highlighted the brutal nature of Pitchfork’s crimes and the profound impact on the victims’ families, reinforcing the need to prioritize public safety in decisions regarding his release.
