Apple has officially announced the upcoming release of its latest operating system set to debut on devices later this year. Dubbed iOS 26, the new OS showcases a fresh appearance named Liquid Glass and introduces a host of new features.
Among the notable updates are a revamped look, the addition of Call Screening to block unwanted calls, and automatic removal of spam texts. Popular Apple apps like Maps and Photos are also receiving enhancements in this update.
A new snooze duration feature allows users to set alarms with flexibility, ranging from 1 to 15 minutes. While the exact launch date for iOS 26 is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to roll out on compatible devices in September.
Apple has announced that the Public Beta for iOS 26, along with other software updates like iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, HomePod software 26, watchOS 26, and AirPods Firmware, will be available for users to test before the official release. Interested users can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Programme to provide feedback and help refine the software.
It is advised not to install the beta version on primary devices as it may contain bugs. The purpose of the beta is to gather feedback for improvements before the final release. Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, highlighted the significant design enhancements and functional improvements in iOS 26, making the iPhone even more user-friendly and efficient.
