Samsung Galaxy Book users are facing critical issues following a recent Windows 11 update. The update has led to a loss of access to the C drive, displaying an “Access denied” message. This has caused hindrances in opening files and running applications like Microsoft Outlook, Office apps, and specific web browsers.
The problem seems to affect models with the following numbers: NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue, stating that some Samsung devices are experiencing the C: drive access loss after installing the February 2026 security update and subsequent updates. Users are encountering errors preventing file access and application launches, including Outlook, Office apps, web browsers, and system utilities.
The root cause of the issue is believed to be Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which offers features like screen mirroring and file sharing between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been removed from the Windows app store temporarily while a resolution is being worked on.
Samsung has reissued a stable previous version of the application to prevent further installations. Recovery options for affected devices are limited, with ongoing evaluation of remediation strategies in collaboration with Microsoft.
There is no fixed timeline for the fix release, so Samsung PC owners are advised to hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Users already on these versions are recommended to refrain from updating further.
