Donald Trump’s team member refuted claims that the US President has been falling asleep during government meetings. Despite being photographed with his eyes closed at various events, including Cabinet meetings and press conferences, Trump’s press secretary commended his performance during a recent lengthy Cabinet meeting.
The White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, acknowledged that Trump had closed his eyes during some meetings but emphasized that he had not actually fallen asleep. Wiles explained in an interview that Trump would close his eyes, lean back, but remained attentive.
During a televised government meeting on December 2, Trump was seen nodding off a few times. Footage showed him squinting and fully closing his eyes at least once during the lengthy meeting.
Despite criticism from online commentators, including one Democrat who shared a video expressing concern about Trump’s health, his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, defended his engagement during the Cabinet meetings, highlighting the President’s focus on accomplishments for the American people.
Trump himself addressed the issue, stating that he and others like him do not sleep much due to their dedication to their countries. He also took a swipe at Joe Biden, accusing him of sleeping “all the time,” a recurring criticism of his predecessor.
