Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill has pledged her support to Kevin Sinfield in his latest fundraising endeavor for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Sheffield. Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, will be participating in the ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge alongside Sinfield on Thursday, marking the fourth leg of the initiative.

Sinfield, who commenced the week-long challenge on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon every day as part of his annual fundraising efforts for MND charities. His previous campaigns have raised over £10 million, contributing to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.

The initiative was inspired by Sinfield’s former teammate and close friend, Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND. Ennis-Hill’s involvement adds significant star power to the cause, enhancing awareness about MND and supporting Sinfield’s relentless pursuit of a cure for the disease.

Ennis-Hill, renowned for her heptathlon Olympic victory in 2012 and three-time world champion status, transitioned into a successful media career post-retirement. She has also become a patron of various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

Sinfield remains dedicated to his mission to combat MND, emphasizing the importance of continued advocacy efforts following the recent news of England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis. Moody, in turn, plans to host a fundraising dinner in April and organize a charity bike ride in 2026 to further support the cause.
