Police have provided an update on the condition of the surviving alleged shooter involved in the Bondy Beach shooting incident. The incident occurred at Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14, 2025, around 6:40 pm when emergency services responded to reports of a shooting in a public area.
Law enforcement officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command, along with other units, quickly arrived at the scene where they encountered two individuals using firearms to shoot at crowds of people. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, two officers, including a constable and a probationary constable, sustained gunshot wounds. One of the shooters, a 50-year-old man, was fatally shot by the police at the location.
The other shooter, identified as 24-year-old Naveed Akram, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital under police supervision. NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon has provided an update on Akram’s medical status, stating that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, with limited updates being shared at this time.
During a press briefing following the tragic events, Commissioner Lanyon mentioned the possibility of criminal charges against Akram based on his medical condition.
