A 14-year-old girl named Kylie Toberman was tragically discovered deceased in a motorhome behind her residence in Vandalia, Illinois, shortly after she was reported missing. The search for Kylie lasted for eight hours following her disappearance around 9 pm on a Thursday, with her official missing report filed at 6:30 am the following morning. She was described as last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and black leggings.

Kylie’s body was found later that day, and the cause of her death remains unknown. She resided with her adoptive mother, two sisters, and her step-uncle, Arnold B Rivera Jr, aged 43, who lived in the motorhome where her body was found, according to her biological mother, Megan Zeller.

The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency reported that the Vandalia Police Department was actively seeking Rivera Jr, eventually taking him into custody. Rivera Jr has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated sexual assault, and concealing a homicide, as indicated by jail records. Previous reports suggest that he had faced charges in 2000 related to burglary and criminal sexual abuse of a child aged between 9 and 16. He had pleaded guilty to a separate charge in a different case, resulting in the dropping of both initial charges.

Megan Zeller, Kylie’s mother, made emotional pleas for help in locating her daughter before sadly announcing her passing. Zeller expressed her determination to seek justice for her daughter and ensure the safety of her other children.

Kylie, known for her academic achievements and participation in sports, attended Vandalia Junior High School and was part of the wrestling team. The community and her school mourned her loss, with statements shared on social media platforms expressing sorrow and offering support. The Illinois State Police continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Kylie’s untimely death.
