“Fatal Shooting at Brown University: Suspect in Black Escapes”

New details have been revealed by authorities regarding the individual suspected of carrying out a shooting incident at Brown University.

During a press briefing at the campus in Providence, Rhode Island, officials described the suspect as a man dressed entirely in black. The unidentified individual entered the Barus and Holley engineering building around 4:05 p.m. local time and initiated gunfire.

As of now, there have been at least two fatalities and eight individuals sustaining critical injuries, who are currently in stable condition at the hospital. The suspect is believed to have escaped on foot, heading down Hope Street. The last sighting of the gunman was shortly after 4 p.m. when the initial emergency call was made.

A statement released by the prestigious Ivy League university confirmed the tragic events, stating, “We regret to inform that two individuals have been confirmed deceased as a result of the active shooting incident at the Barus and Holley engineering building.”

The university further noted, “There are eight additional victims in critical but stable condition receiving treatment at the hospital. A shelter-in-place directive remains in effect. The perpetrator or perpetrators have not been apprehended at this time, with law enforcement actively engaged in the area.”

It is suspected that the suspect may have been granted access by individuals within the building, particularly during a period of heightened activity due to ongoing final exams.

Officials explained, “Most of our buildings typically require card swipe access after hours, but due to the final exam period, there was likely a significant amount of foot traffic in the vicinity.”

Law enforcement authorities have reported that no weapons were recovered following the incident, and the type of firearm used remains undisclosed at this time.
