A rare video captured the moments following Princess Kate and Prince William’s initial interview as an engaged couple, much to the delight of royal fans worldwide. The engagement announcement, made in November 2010 after William proposed during a romantic trip to Kenya, sparked excitement and anticipation for their upcoming royal wedding. In the now iconic interview, Kate proudly displayed her unique engagement ring as the couple shared their aspirations for the future. However, unseen footage revealed a different side of Kate after the cameras stopped rolling.

Despite being thrust into the spotlight of the world’s most famous family, Kate’s vulnerability emerged in the post-interview moments with ITV’s Tom Bradby. Behind-the-scenes clips depicted Prince William comforting his fiancée, urging her to calm down and breathe, to which Kate admitted her struggle with relaxation.

During the interview itself, William confessed to feeling nervous, likening their demeanor to calm ducks with busy feet underneath the surface. The couple touched on various topics, from the early stages of their relationship to William seeking Kate’s father’s permission for marriage and the significance of the engagement ring.

Royal author Katie Nicholl, in her book “Kate: The Future Queen,” revealed Kate’s apprehension about the interview, noting her visible relief afterward. Nicholl recounted Kate’s self-conscious actions, such as purposely keeping her hands still to hide any nervousness.

In a candid moment, Kate shared her initial nerves upon meeting William at St Andrews University, recalling feeling shy and embarrassed. The couple filmed the interview at Clarence House, William’s former residence with Prince Harry, before moving to their permanent home, Forest Lodge, in Windsor Great Park.

Despite facing personal challenges, the couple intends to settle in Forest Lodge permanently, even as William prepares to ascend the throne.
