Eligible households in Blackpool consisting of one or two individuals, including children, will receive £200 in energy credits. Meanwhile, households with three or more members, including children, will be entitled to £300 in assistance. Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and the inability to meet their utility bills, supported by recent bank statements for all household members.

The energy aid is directly credited to the recipient’s energy provider and reflects as a credit on their bill or pre-payment gas or electric meter. Interested individuals can apply through the Blackpool Council website, with no mandatory requirement to be in receipt of Universal Credit or other benefits. However, only one award can be claimed within a year.

For residents outside Blackpool, it is advisable to explore the support available from their local council under the Household Support Fund. Various councils like Stockton-on-Tees and City of York are also offering financial assistance, including vouchers and one-off payments, to eligible households facing financial constraints during the winter season. Portsmouth City Council, for instance, is providing £150 to single-person households and £200 to couples or families meeting specific income criteria. Eligibility for such support typically depends on receiving certain benefits and having a household income below defined thresholds.
